Incubation · The Beauty Edit

A live market.
Not paper advisory.

We do not deliver decks and depart. We own and operate the environments in which brands prove themselves — and we stand in them alongside you.

Overview

New markets are rarely lost on product quality. They are lost on consumer psyche, culture, regulation, business practice and the absence of trusted local partners. Our incubation removes those obstacles, giving a brand a real, low-risk environment in which to land — with the relationships and the safety net already wired in. The Beauty Edit does the work: a proprietary six-month market pilot, run end to end and live in Hong Kong, Shanghai and London.

How It Works · The Programme

The Beauty Edit runs in two phases.

Phase 01

The Activation

One month

An intensive month in-market, on three fronts at once.

  • Physical

a pop-up in a premium downtown location, launched with a KOL and PR campaign.

  • Online

online retail through a marketplace partner or a KOL livestream.

  • Trade

a presence at select trade fairs and industry gatherings, putting the brand in front of prospective distribution partners.

Phase 02

Short-Term Distributorship

Multi-month

Chrysalis then carries the brand as a short-term distributor, turning the activation's momentum into sustained sales and presence — and a genuine foundation for partnership talks and full market entry.

Throughout, we listen. Structured consumer and trade feedback runs through both phases, shaping a tangible, culturally-compatible entry strategy rather than a theoretical one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is TBE for?

Established beauty houses with a clear point of view, seeking a considered, low-risk route into China or the UK rather than an unguided launch.

What does a brand come away with?

A quantified Brand Readiness Index, structured consumer and trade feedback, press and KOL exposure, a living trade-contact matrix, and initial cross-border sales.

Is it turn-key?

Yes. Once enrolled, Chrysalis stages the activation end-to-end: retail, production, PR, social and logistics. The brand supplies product and shipping, and contracts regulatory work through our compliance partner at preferential cohort rates.

How is TBE different from a consultancy?

We own and operate the commercial environment. The market answers directly, with no intermediary layer between a brand and the evidence.

Do you work with brands that hold no China registration?

Yes. For long-term sale in our own stores and counters, NMPA registration for imported cosmetics is required, and where we reach a distribution agreement we provide the full registration advisory and compliance service alongside it. For limited-run activations such as TBE and BBF, unregistered brands can enter China lawfully for sampling and display, with any purchase completed through a bonded cross-border channel.
